Notre Dame Graduates Walk Out On Tom Pence’s Commencement Speech

Donations with is not tax deductable.

Vice President Tom Pence’s commencement speech at Notre Dame did not go as planned.  On Sunday, in the middle of the speech, a large group of students walked out.

"It's deeply humbling for me to participate in the 172nd commencement in Notre Dame's 175th year," Pence said to a mix of applause and boos.

Students had made it clear earlier that they would be walking out as a symbol of opposition opposed to Donald Trump and his administration.

Prior to Pence taking the stage, valedictorian C.J, Pines, gave an address that was politically charged, During, his speech Pine called for equal rights and religious freedom for Muslims and all other faiths.

"Our generation must stand against the scapegoating of Muslims," Pine said.

Pine also took aim at Donald Trump’s plan to build a wall at Mexico’s border.

“If we are going to build walls between American students and international students, then I am skewered on the fence," Pine said.

Father John Jenkins, Notre Dame's president, took to the stage and called for peace and dialogue.

"Too often the love that fires our passion is twisted into a hatred in which we disagree," Jenkins said.

The protest was planned by the activist group We Stand For saying Pence's policies as vice president and as former Indiana governor targeted marginalized people on the basis of their religion, skin color or sexual orientation.

Approximately 146 students took part in the walkout.

Donald Trump Calls Russia Investigation A Witch Hunt

Shortly after Donald Trump accepted the appointment of a special council in the Russia investigation he turned to Twitter to rant that the whole situation was a “witch hunt.”

Trump continued ranting on Twitter later in the day posting, “With all the illegal acts that took place in the Clinton campaign & Obama administration there was never a special councel appointed.” (Notice Trump spelled council incorrectly)

No one seems to know what “illegal” acts Trump is referring to in the tweet.

Trump followed that tweet up with another posting, “The single greatest witch hunt of a politician in American history!”

On Wednesday, Trump gave a brief statement: “As I have stated many times, a thorough investigation will confirm what we already know – there was no collusion between my campaign and any foreign entity. I look forward to this matter concluding quickly.  In the meantime, I will never stop fighting for the people and the issues that matter most to the future of our country.”

Reportedly the news that Robert Mueller had been selected to lead the Russia probe stunned the White House, which learned the news just 30 minutes before it went public.

The Mueller appointment comes just a little longer than a week after Trump fired FBI Director James Comey. Many Democrats and even some Republicans believe that Comey was terminated by Trump to shut down the Russia probe.

The day before Mueller was appointed to the probe the White House was rocked by the news that Comey had written memos from his past meetings with Trump. Those memos reportedly included one where the president asked him to stop the investigation into Michael Flynn, who was at the time the national security advisor.

Sen. John McCain was asked about Trump’s tweets following Mueller’s appointment and he stated: “I know of no one who doesn’t have the highest regard for Robert Mueller.”

Trump’s Twitter rants are sure to become commonplace as the Russia probe continues.

New Poll Shows Just 29 Percent Of Americans Approve Of Donald Trump’s Firing of James Comey

A recently released poll shows that only 29% of Americans approve of Donald Trump’s firing of FBI Director James Comey. The poll was conducted by NBC News and the Wall Street Journal.  The poll shows that 38% disapprove of Comey’s firing and 32% do not care about the matter enough to give an opinion.

Among those who stated that they had either seen or heard a lot about the situation, 53% said that they disapproved of Trump’s actions.

The NBC/WSJ poll was conducted on May 11-13, after Trump’s dismissal of Comey.

The poll also reflected that 38 percent of Americans hold a positive view of the president, while 52 percent have a negative view. The poll also showed that 57% of Americans have no faith in Trump as president.

Thirty percent of those polled say that Trump’s decision to fire Comey has given them a less favorable impression of him as president.

The poll revealed that Forty-six percent of Americans, including 74 percent of Democrats, say that they believe that Trump fired Comey to slow down the FBI investigation of Russia’s involvement in the 2016 election.

When asked if they prefer that Congress or an independent commission or a special prosecutor investigate Russia’s involvement 78% supported either an independent commission or a special prosecutor. When it comes to hiring a special prosecutor rumor has it that Barrack Obama is available.

Michelle Obama Speaks Out About Donald Trump

When it comes to politics Michelle Obama has been quiet since leaving the White House, but all of that changed as the former First Lady spoke recently at a health conference.

“Think about why someone is OK with your kids eating crap,” Michelle said bluntly.

One of Michelle Obama’s greatest legacies was her effort to beat childhood obesity. Donald Trump has taken steps to erase all of her hard work. Earlier this month, Trump froze regulations that cut sodium and increase whole grains that are served to children at school.

“We have a lot more work to do, for sure, but we’ve got to make sure we don’t let anybody take us back because the question is, where are we going back to?” Michelle stated as she addressed an audience at the Partnership for a Healthier America Summit.

“This is where you really have to look at motives, you know. You have to stop and think: why don’t you want our kids to have good food at school? What is wrong with you?” Michelle asked referring to Donald Trump.

Her statements received loud applause from the audience that packed a hotel ballroom. Liberated from her role as the First Lady, Michelle was much more blunt and passionate then she was in her role of First Lady.

“And why is that a partisan issue? Why would that be political? What is going on? You know, now that’s up to moms. Moms, think about this. I don’t care what state you live in. Take me out of the equation. Like me, don’t like me, but think about why someone is OK with your kids eating crap. Why would you celebrate that? Why would you sit idly and be OK with that?” Michelle asked passionately.

“Because here’s the secret: if somebody is doing that, they don’t care about your kid, and we need to demand everyone to care deeply about kids. That’s all we have. So, we should be driving this and every elected official on this planet should understand: don’t play with our children. Don’t do it,” she added.

Besides changing regulations for school lunches the Trump administration has postponed rules instructing restaurants and grocery stores to put calories counts on their menus.

Speaking on Trump delaying that decision Michelle Obama stated, ‘You shouldn’t know what you’re eating.’ Think about that. Stop there, think about that. ‘You shouldn’t know what you’re eating.’ You’re OK with that? Do you know people who are OK with that? I mean, I just find myself thinking, this isn’t my fight, you know, this is where you’ve got to look yourself in the eye.

“We need to look our neighbors in the eye and kind of go: ‘What is going on?’ Because this just isn’t that complicated, you know. Just tell me what’s in my food. Why is that a problem? So, you have to ask yourself, what’s going on, because I don’t get it. I don’t understand it.”

“‘Keep families ignorant.’ That’s all I’m hearing. ‘You don’t need to know what’s in your food. You can’t handle that, Mom. Just buy this, be quiet, spend your money, you buy this, don’t ask us about what’s in your food, you know.’ How does that feel? How does that feel? ‘This isn’t information that you should know. We shouldn’t change a label to make it clearer and easier for you to just break down what you’re buying.”

Clearly, Trump is anxious to erase all the good that the Obama’s did while in the White House, but Michelle Obama has made it clear she will not sit back quietly and watch him destroy their hard work.

Donald Trump Fires James Comey

On Tuesday, Donald Trump fired James B. Comey the director of the F.B.I. Comey’s termination came abruptly.

Comey oversaw the investigation into whether Trump and his advisors colluded with Russia to interfere with the outcome of the 2016 elections. Many are now questioning what the president didn’t want Comey to find out in the investigation.

Comey’s firing has Democrats calling for an independent prosecutor to lead the Russia inquiry investigation.

Trump states that he terminated Comey because of his handling of Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server. If this were the case one must wonder why it took him so long to fire him.

In Trump’s letter to Comey, which was released to the media by the White House, Trump betrayed his focus on the ongoing inquiry into Russia’s connections to the Trump administration.

“While I greatly appreciate, you informing me, on three separate occasions, that I am not under investigation, I nevertheless concur with the judgment of the Department of Justice that you are not able to effectively lead the bureau,” Mr. Trump penned to Mr. Comey. The letter was dated Tuesday.

Deputy attorney general, Rod J. Rosenstein, pushed for Comey’s dismissal.

“I cannot defend the director’s handling of the conclusion of the investigation of Secretary Clinton’s emails,” Mr. Rosenstein wrote in a letter that was released by the White House, “and I do not understand his refusal to accept the nearly universal judgment that he was mistaken.”

Yet many of the facts cited as evidence for Comey’s dismissal were well known when Mr. Trump kept him on the job: Comey was three years into a 10-year term. And both Mr. Trump and his attorney general, Jeff Sessions, had praised Mr. Comey back then for reopening the Clinton investigation by saying his public announcement “took guts” and yet now that action has become the heart of his dismissal.

Trump’s decision to fire Comey is only the second time since taking office that the president has fired a top law enforcement official. The first time happened back in January when Trump fired Sally Q. Yates.

Donald Trump Asks Why There Was A Civil War

During an interview that will air today, Donald Trump questioned why there was a civil war. He even went as far as to suggest that former President Andrew Jackson would have prevented the war had he served later.

“I mean had Andrew Jackson been a little bit later you wouldn’t have had the Civil War. He was a very tough person, but he had a big heart,” Trump said.

“He was really angry that he saw what was happening with regard to the Civil War, he said, ‘There’s no reason for this,’” Trump told Salena Ziti of the Washington Examiner.

Andrew Jackson died in 1845 and the Civil war began in 1861.

Trump went on to question why the United States did not solve the Civil War.”People don’t realize, you know, the Civil War, if you think about it, why?” Trump asked. “People don’t ask that question, but why was there the Civil War? Why could that one not have been worked out?”

Trump even compared his presidential campaign to Jacksons. (I’m sure Jackson is rolling over in his grave.)

“My campaign and win was most like Andrew Jackson, with his campaign. And I said, when was Andrew Jackson? It was 1828. That’s a long time ago,” Trump said.

There were 2 million slaves in 1830; by the time the Civil War came, there were more than 4 million held in bondage.  If Donald Trump does not see the moral importance of the Civil War that speaks volumes about the type of person that he is.

Donald Trump Says He Thought Being President Would be Easier Than Being A CEO

During a recent interview with Reuters, Donald Trump stated that being president is overwhelming and not something he was prepared for. Going into in he believed being president would be much easier than being a CEO of a major corporation.

Trump stated that he often feels like he is in a “cocoon,” he misses driving and that he was surprised to discover how hard being president is.

He also reflected on his first 100 days saying, “I loved my previous life. I had so many things going,” Trump said. “This is more work than in my previous life. I thought it would be easier.”

During the interview, Trump showed that he is still obsessed with the election and refuses to admit that Hillary Clinton had bigger numbers. In the middle of a conversation about Chinese President Xi Jinping, Trump suddenly stopped and began passing out what he said were the latest figures for the 2016 electoral map.

“Here, you can take that, that’s the final map of the numbers. It’s pretty good, right? The red is obviously us,” Trump boasted.

Trump’s issues with being president may stem from his lack of compassion. Many people have stated that Trump has no heart.

“In business, you don’t necessarily need heart, whereas here, almost everything affects people,” Trump said. “So, if you’re talking about health care — you have health care in business but you’re trying to just negotiate a good price on health care, et cetera, et cetera. You’re providing health. Here, everything, pretty much everything you do in government, involves heart, whereas in business, most things don’t involve heart.”

Donald Trump’s First 100 Days Were the Worst in the History of the Presidency

There is no doubt that Donald Trump’s actions as president have weakened our country. Trump’s first 100 days have been filled with twitter rants, an obsession with a wall and threats to other countries. He has literally made America a laughing stock.

As president Trump has made no noteworthy progress on any piece of legislation. His health care bill was an embarrassing disaster. His border wall has been a giant temper tantrum. His immigration ban was a worldwide nightmare.

Trump promised to drain the swamp and instead, he filled it with even more vile predators. He has only made nominations to fill 50 of 533 positions in the executive branch. Ninety percent of the top jobs are still waiting on nominations.

Trump’s presidency has been one scandal after another. No other administration has been distracted by scandals as much as Trump’s has.

Trump has no real foreign policy. Over the past few weeks and his spats with North Korea, Syria and Canada it appears that Trump is an isolationist. Right now, no one seems to know, not even Trump himself, who he sees as an ally and who he sees as a rival.

Trump is without a doubt the least popular president ever. His approval rate barely hovers at 43% and had dropped to 41%.

Though he is incapable of coming up with a health plan of his own, or of filling administration seats, or of not babbling like a child on Twitter, or of not wasting our tax dollars on vacations and golf games he is still the most powerful man in the United States. If that doesn’t scare you nothing will.

The Wall

Donald Trump is so obsessed with building his wall that he will sacrifice vital services for the elderly and children to do so. He’ll throw Elmo under the bus and take the only real meal many elderly individuals get away. He’ll try to shut down planned parenthood and bring back the coat hanger abortion all to build this wall. He’s willing to take away the only nutritious meal many children all across the US have by ending the free lunch program.

Building this border wall would be a terrible example of diplomacy. It would create an even more strained relationship with Mexico. Mexico is one of our closest allies and trading partner. Why would we even consider jeopardizing that?

There is no doubt the wall would be an incredible waste of money. It has been estimated that the wall would cost taxpayers more than $25 billion. With $25 billion we could keep Meals on Wheels running, keep PBS on-air, build over 1,000 new elementary schools or send 300,000 veterans to college or we could install enough renewable energy sources to run 5 million homes. Simply put we could help hardworking Americans get ahead.

This wall isn’t about keeping the “bad guys” out its all about feeding his over inflated ego so he can point his tiny orange fingers at it and say “I built that.”

Having Ted Nugent in the White House Was a Vile and Disturbing Move by Donald Trump

The White House is often a place that celebrities are welcomed by the president. Recently Donald Trump opened the oval office up to Ted Nugent, Sarah Palin, and Kid Rock. It would have been difficult for Trump to have chosen three less deserving individuals.

The deplorable trio even took and shared mocking photos in front of a painting of Hillary Clinton. Sarah Palin and Kid Rock have long histories of bizarre behavior and putting their foot in their mouths and not manning up to admit it or apologize, but Ted Nugent is his own brand of disgusting.

Bringing Ted Nugent to the White House clearly proves that Trump has no class. Let’s look at just some of Ted Nugent’s vile and bizarre behavior.

Ted Nugent has repeatedly shared racist memes on his Facebook page and has repeatedly praised the use of the word nigger.

During a concert in 2007, Nugent brought an assault rifle on stage and waved it around. He told the crowd that Hillary Clinton should “ride one of these into the sunset, you’re a worthless bitch” and he later stated that President Obama should “suck his machine gun.”

In 2014, Ted Nugent called President Obama a “subhuman mongrel” and called Hillary Clinton a “toxic cunt.”

In May of 2016, he promoted a video that said Hillary Clinton should be shot and in January of last year he stated that Clinton should be hung for treason.

Despite all this, Donald Trump thought it was appropriate to have Nugent as a guest in the White House. This situation speaks volumes about the morals of our president.
