A recently released poll shows that only 29% of Americans approve of Donald Trump’s firing of FBI Director James Comey. The poll was conducted by NBC News and the Wall Street Journal. The poll shows that 38% disapprove of Comey’s firing and 32% do not care about the matter enough to give an opinion.
Among those who stated that they had either seen or heard a lot about the situation, 53% said that they disapproved of Trump’s actions.
The NBC/WSJ poll was conducted on May 11-13, after Trump’s dismissal of Comey.
The poll also reflected that 38 percent of Americans hold a positive view of the president, while 52 percent have a negative view. The poll also showed that 57% of Americans have no faith in Trump as president.
Thirty percent of those polled say that Trump’s decision to fire Comey has given them a less favorable impression of him as president.
The poll revealed that Forty-six percent of Americans, including 74 percent of Democrats, say that they believe that Trump fired Comey to slow down the FBI investigation of Russia’s involvement in the 2016 election.
When asked if they prefer that Congress or an independent commission or a special prosecutor investigate Russia’s involvement 78% supported either an independent commission or a special prosecutor. When it comes to hiring a special prosecutor rumor has it that Barrack Obama is available.
